Our Facility Manager
My career journey home to New Zealand and to Masterton was in January 2019 from Western Australia after 7 years in the Wheatbelt area halfway between Perth and Kalgoorie. I was the community liaison officer for the Shire of Merredin for 4 years and managed the recreation centre with Belgravia Leisure for 3 years, the community sports complex for 3,500 people. Only 10 years old, the centre facilitated all competitive and community sport with a large function area including a bar and restaurant, an indoor 2 court stadium and a children’s indoor three-story climbing playground and cafe.
I am a South Island kiwi of Ngai Tahu descent, born and bred in Southland. Coming to Masterton has given my family the very exciting opportunity to explore the North Island.
Masterton is such a vibrant community with so many iconic and family orientated fun places to work, live and play. I am privileged to manage such an amazing community asset here at Trust House Recreation Centre. This centre has it all, helping the whole community on their health and well-being journey. Swimming lessons, group fitness classes, indoor sports, before and after school childcare, school holiday programmes, birthday parties and social functions and a fully equipped modern gym and hosts the annual, world-famous Golden Shears event.
Please check out the rest of this website for what best suits your needs and get in touch with our staff who will guide and support you to partake and enjoy all the activities available at Trust House Recreation Centre.

Hi there, I’m Jarrod and I work on the reception desk and also help out in our B-legends after school care and holiday programme from time to time 😊
I have more of a hospo orientated background working as a barista in both New Zealand and Australia. I returned from Australia in 2018 after being away from the Wellington & Wairarapa region for 15 years. At the beginning of 2019 I started working here at Trust House Recreation Centre and absolutely love working with all of my colleagues and feel privileged to work back in my own community.
The skills I learned while working and living abroad definitely helped me to talk to and get along with anyone from all walks of life, whether I was in the big bustling city of Melbourne or on the laid-back beaches of the Gold Coast.
Seeing all my whanau and old school friends that are still here in the Wairarapa just makes it all worthwhile coming back to Masterton and working at this awesome recreation centre.
